Default "I don't care if it's constitutional or not at this point,"

Cleveland, Ohio (CNN)The head of Cleveland's largest police union is calling on Ohio Gov. John Kasich to temporarily restrict the state's open carry gun laws during this week's Republican National Convention following Sunday's shooting in Louisiana that killed three officers and wounded at least three others.

"We are sending a letter to Gov. Kasich requesting assistance from him. He could very easily do some kind of executive order or something -- I don't care if it's constitutional or not at this point," Stephen Loomis, president of Cleveland Police Patrolmen's Association, told CNN. "They can fight about it after the RNC or they can lift it after the RNC, but I want him to absolutely outlaw open-carry in Cuyahoga County until this RNC is over."

Anyone concerned about this type of attitude??

Not sure open carrying around the RNC is the smartest thing but to have a leading public figure simply declare that a Constitutional right should be suspended concerns me.

There should be a law that prevents people from killing each other.

I believe Gov. Kasich has already responded that he does not have the authority to restrict open carry.

The process is important. If it isn't done in accordance with the U.S. and Ohio Constitutions, then it should not be done.

Liberals are apparently going apeshit over this, saying republicans don't care about the lives of police officers and other nonsense.

What's funny is, it never occurs to liberals that same officer/union president could just as easily say, ""We are sending a letter to Gov. Kasich requesting assistance from him. He could very easily do some kind of executive order or something -- I don't care if it's constitutional or not at this point," Stephen Loomis, president of Cleveland Police Patrolmen's Association, told CNN. "They can fight about it after the RNC or they can lift it after the RNC, but I want him to absolutely allow officers to stop and search all black people for guns in Cuyahoga County until this RNC is over."

The insane part is that it's the liberals that are saying they will be open carrying at the RNC for their own protection from the police. And it's the liberals that are the ones killing the police. Yet, somehow it's republicans that don't care. They always find a way to turn it around and blame republicans.

    It's mind boggling.

Anyone in law enforcement that openly complains that civil and constitutional rights are inconvenient to their ability to do their jobs should be relieved from duty and put on a list of people not allowed to be placed in any law enforcement job.

I would be fine with flogged as well, but I'm willing to compromise and just fire them.

I don't know about a flogging but you are 100% on the mark. He is paid to protect our rights, not change them at will.
