Default Is my (or your) military records public info?

Just wondering. The Gazette (Colo Spgs) had every place the Baton Rouge police shooter had been in his whole time in. Basic, every school, every duty station. Hell, I can't recall all that without looking it up.

Some military records are public. Things like unit of assignment, 2-1, awards, etc. Searchable if you have the correct info.

Over on This Ain't Hell they pull FOIA records all the time on people who claim to be Army SEAL Ranger Marine Sniper Green Beret Force Recon Space Shuttle Door Gunners. SSN is redacted but pretty much everything else is there for everyone to see.

It depends on how determined the researcher is. A request can be made of military records, or they could have gotten the information from a family member that was proud of their veteran relative.

USAA gets your info real quick. Not sure how they verify you served. They must have a direct link to DOD. I wouldn't be surprised if the data is dished out by a private contractor. Nothing is sacred anymore, and people like Hillary are running things. Only thing that really matters is the $
