Some companies have the ability to suspend the insurance on a car. It'll take all the coverages off except comprehensive. Then, when you want to use it, you call and activate it and pay the "active" rate for however long you have it active. Then just call to put it back asleep.

It's called, or use to be Seasonal Coverage. Fair weather motorcycle riders would do this type of coverage.
