    Default Nice Surprises

I was out and about yesterday taking a different route home and came across a sign on a road not far from my house: "Rifle Range 3.5 Miles"

Sure enough, there it was. The "Lewis Clark Wildlife Club". Rifle and handgun range, open Fri-Sun, long-range shooting to 700 yards, $50 year (includes spouse). It's about 9 miles from my house. I'd asked around but no one mentioned this place to me. So, it was a nice surprise to find a place to shoot so close to home.

    What's your "nice surprise"?

Took the wife to a new to us indoor range in Broomfield. http://www.goshootindoors.com/
It was her First time shooting both pistol and rifle and she did awesome. On the way home she asked about building/buying a new rifle
That was definitely a "nice surprise" and happy she is excited about shooting

What? Your house hasn't been hailed with ricochets and errant bullets from said range?

Kewl find. My local range was shut down a couple of years ago.

This thread is about nice surprises. Not divine intervention.

Well my nice surprise is that I came into this thread expecting some shocking new news on the Jihidist that ran the truck through the Bastille Day crowd in France and instead it was a positive story not related to how the world is going to hell in a handbasket.

I'm sure it's not perfect, but something positive in the world is nice to read on occasion.

I went to the neighbors yard sale. Bought a $1200 military PSS 12 mine detector for $20. Perfect for hunting gold nuggets in the mountains.
