Default Grow House, Party House, Exploding House

Looks like the same house and not the only one in town.

Word is the body was found after a multi day binge of heroin/meth mix. The house has been a sore spot for a while, illegal grow house squatters, addicts and "chem labs" moving through. The owners are out of towners and don't seem to GAF. This is in a "good" neighborhood. The stupid is high.

NEDERLAND, Colo. -- A house caught fire in Nederland Monday evening, and there were reports that said two people were hurt.

Witnesses reported an explosion at the house at 99 Alpine Drive.

Firefighters worked hard pouring water on the stubborn fire as flames shot through the roof and above the trees to try to keep it from spreading beyond the house.

Body found outside abandoned illegal marijuana grow in Nederlan

Nederland police and the Boulder County Sheriff's Office are investigating a "suspicious death" after a man's body was found outside an abandoned illegal marijuana grow house on Wednesday afternoon.

"The death is suspicious in nature," Nederland police Chief Paul Carrill said. "Due to the condition of the house and contents in the house, it required a response from Boulder County hazmat team."

Carrill said he was not prepared to comment on what might be hazardous inside the house, but the hazmat team was called out for an "abundance of caution."

He added that the home, in the 100 block of Alpine Drive, is a rental property and had been abandoned for 18 months after being used as an illegal marijuana growing operation.

Carrill said the man was 20 years old and appears to have been dead for "quite some time" outside a home on upper Alpine Drive. He said the body has been turned over to the Boulder County Coroner's Office and declined to comment on how the man died.

"We are waiting for an autopsy and toxicology before I can make any statements on the cause and manner of death," he said.

I saw the title and thought this was going to be in the Wanted section of the site.

No more Phyllis. That was hold over from another thread. Oops.

Yep looks like a hash oil operation gone wrong.

Official: Nederland house fire possibly started from hash oil explosion

The house fire that injured two Monday south of Nederland's Barker Reservoir — in the area of Pinecliff Trail and Alpine Drive — could have been started by a hash oil explosion, according to Nederland Fire Volunteer Captain Eric Abramson.

"I can't really comment now but it's a little suspicious that there's (propane) tanks blowing off (in the house)," Abramson said. "We probably suspect some sort of illegal behavior."

While he couldn't provide specific detail on the cause the fire, Abramson indicated that the incident was marijuana related.

"I want to say that it's beyond just a marijuana grow (operation)," he said. "There's other things going on with cannabis as a product. Most people that grow marijuana as a product don't create this kind of a hazard.
"I've been on the force for 18 to 19 years now; it was very dangerous and I'm not happy about it."

At least two people were reported injured in the fire, and they were airlifted to a hospital in Denver, according to Abramson.

"The two people hospitalized had gotten out (of the house)," he said. "You can make your own conclusion (about their condition) when they get flown by helicopter to the burn unit."

The house was described as "fully engulfed," and someone on the scene reported to dispatchers that flames had spread into nearby trees.

The fire was first reported around 5 p.m. and was extinguished later Monday.

"I exited my small little workshop," neighbor Jerry Naro said. "At that time, I looked down through my trees and saw smoke. Flames had already blown out the side of the house and they spread pretty quickly."

When asked if he knew the individuals who lived in the house, Naro demurred.

"The house has been for rent for a long time," he said. "I don't want to say that we don't pay attention to what goes on in the neighborhood, but they were quiet."

Last week, Nederland police and the Boulder County Sheriff's Office began an investigation into a "suspicious death" after a man's body was found outside an illegal marijuana grow house on the same road as Monday's fire.

Nederland police Chief Paul Carrill said that the home where the body was found, in the 100 block of Alpine Drive, was a rental property that had been abandoned for 18 months after being used as an illegal marijuana growing operation.

Last time I advertised my mountain house for rent, 4 out of 5 prospects wanted the place as a grow house. No way, Jose! It's in the contract prohibiting growing MJ or even smoking in the house. They can buy and F up their own house if they want to grow dope.

A previous tenant snuck a grow into a bedroom and caused thousands of $$$ damage from water leaks, dirt and excess humidity. The humidity caused black mold, framing and wall damage, exterior paint peeling, ruined carpet and subfloor. Any homeowner would be nuts to allow a grow with the risk of fire and other property damage.
