    Default Headed to Hell

So getting ready for a road trip to California to see my Grandparents. The way I understand Pinko Comie law is a handgun locked into a case with loaded mags not in the gun but in the same case and inside the cab of the car is ok. No mags over 10 rounds. Anyone understand otherwise?

I order a hard side handgun case with number combo lock. I set new combination of numbers and it works. I know you could open this thing with a screwdriver but I checked the lock with off numbers just to check. It has resistance without popping. Just for grins I pushed real hard and it pops right open. Could this be a problem if I got pulled over in California? Driving across all the free states to get there I could have it on the dash if I wanted. Lol. Might be exaggerated a little but....Damn near.

I'll try and not speed and be polite if I do happen to get pulled over. Maybe my comrade won't look so hard.

The headed to Hell part is were going through Death Valley. Only been getting up to 120.

You spent money unnecessarily . We put our guns in a small (plastic) ammo can with a combo lock. Kept lock in the open / last digit position. With cans under driver & passenger seats. Mags were in center console.
There's no requirement how secure a lock box is, as long as it's locked. Mags were blocked to 10 rounds for the AR's, pistols (G26) stock mags are 10 rds. Granted having 12 loaded may have upset someone.

12 years of traveling to CA with no issues. Except this 30 over in small town USA. He never asked if we had firearms, could he search vehicle etc. Suggested i slow down, DO NOT drive through this area until he was off duty, have a nice day.

REMEMBER: NO OFFICER / TROOPER / SHERIFF. I DO NOT CONSENT TO A SEARCH OF MY VEHICLE.

What part of Hell are you visiting apart from Death Valley?

No mags that hold more than 10rds. The gun must be locked in a container so that it is not accessible without a key or combo. Ammo can be in the locked container (or anywhere else in the vehicle), just not in the gun. Be safe. If stopped, be polite, but understand that you have no obligation to volunteer information about the contents of your vehicle. A simple and polite "No" has been found to be adequate if asked about the presence of any firearms in the vehicle.

Replace 'wrong bullets' with 'I can't find my key'.

After spending a few days with family were going to Yosemite National Park. On the drive home were going to avoid the interstate and just adventure our way back through Nevada and Utah.

You're about 45 minutes from our daughters place. Grab a few bags of oranges if you don't mind

You going across Trukee to reno, or 395 through bishop. Stop in Theachapi for some eats.
