About Ned IMHO:

There used to be a bunch of really cool places to eat, drink, hang out and BS in Nederland. The Tungsten Grill was awesome. A few good bars to hang out in. WTF was that Italian joint called? (Tom...help me out) It was the best damn Italian food I had west of New York City - I can't believe I can't remember the name. The owner said that he was "just tired and wanted to retire" when I asked him "why?" when we went there the last day he was open. He was from "The City", of course, or he couldn't have had the skills. Can't blame him for retiring, but man I miss his cheese garlic knots. One calzone was at least two meals.

There's this new pizza joint (sorry Tom) that we went to once. My stepson wanted to go there before winter break last fall. Cool. We get there and the Host tells us "Sorry, we ran out of regular pizza dough, so we only have the gluten free dough". AYFKM? A Pizza joint? <sigh> Well, the kid wanted this place for his special dinner so in we went.

Tiny "Totinos" sized pizzas were about $10 each and they only had special Italian soft drinks. No Coke or Pepsi. And gluten free pizza is like alcohol free beer - WTF is the point? $50 later we all had a few slices of shitty, cardboard-like pizza and pop. Woohoo! We won't be back, but I see they get a lot a biz. Location is my only guess. At the old Italian joint we would have eaten like kings and walked out fat and happy with 2 days of leftovers, as usual.

Anyway, it really makes me sad to bash on Ned so much. It really has been a great place to hang out, drink, eat some good meals and have fun over the years. The hippie culture undertone just added to the vibe of the town back then. But the last few years have brought an huge influx of "undesirables". Too bad.
