9 times out of 10 a 45ACP. My wife carry's a 40S&W and she is about to start carrying my XD45 instead as I am trying to downsize the ammo I buy to one round. My oldest boy (11) can handle my 1911 and Xd just fine. Hits on target etc extremely well. No doubt if he had to defend the family, as I work on the road, he will be able to do it effectivly. My daughter and middle son both are proficient with my wife's G23, so I have no doubt that between the 4 of them when I am gone, things will be handled adequatly.
I chose not to vote since it's entirely dependent on the weather and how I'm dressed. I can carry anything from .32 up to .45. If I have a choice, I take the 45. It looks like a 105mm Howitzer from the dangerous end and shoots really big bullets. Conversely, I can conceal my tomcat in shorts and a tank-top. Man's gotta have choices in life.
If weight and bulk aren't an issue, I'd rather carry my 1911 but it's not exactly convenient in the summer when I'm wearing shorts and a T-shirt. I'd rather carry 9mm than nothing at all so when bulk and weight are an issue, I carry my M&P 9c which tucks inside my pocket with nary a trace ...
80% of the time I carry my keltec .32 auto. because it drops in my pocket and I dont have to ware a vest or baggy shirt. I found that once I got my kel tec I carry about 99% of the time. its not the biggest gun but you put 8 71gr silver tips in someones chest, I am pretty sure they will go down

I should of not voted like SA Friday because I too carry depending on weather. Almost the entire summer I carried the 340PD w/crimson trace. Gun is light and I can put it in a cargo pocket. During the winter my 40's come out since the heavy clothes are less likely to print.
