I set traps in Elizabeth for the squirrels getting into the roof.
I caught a skunk one night when I forgot to close the trap at dark.
I then learned that Colorado does not allow you to release a striped skunk due to the threat of rabies.
Cost me $50 to have a skunk killer come and get the little critter:
"Colorado allows you to trap skunks in live traps using peanut butter, eggs, sardines or cat food.
Check traps daily and destroy striped skunks, as the state prohibits moving them due to rabies risk.
You may relocate spotted and hog-nose skunks with a permit.
Skunks also may be shot in rural areas."

I think he had a notice posted at the local Safeway.
He used the exhaust from his truck to finish the striped skunk, tuned up my trap and showed me a couple of tricks to make it more stable.
He then disappeared down the road with the skunk in the plastic bag he had used with the exhaust.
He was friendly, informative, and took care of the problem.
I am careful to close the trap before dark.
As of yesterday 5 skunk, 2 raccoon and a squirrel captured since my original post.

I want a full mount of a striped skunk.
What the hell do you do with a trapped skunk?
Haha, there are enough skunks around I can manage to bag my own.![]()
