    Default RK Show?

I saw a billboard for a show at the Crowne Plaza, I-70 and Chambers 9/17-18. I've been staying away from shows mostly due to lack of funds for too many things I'd love to get due to some mighty high prices. Might have to check this one out.

The thing I didn't like about the the old shows, and this was reinforced with a buddy who was with APD and worked security off duty there, was a high number of folks that would be offended if they were profiled . Anyway, it'll be interesting to see.

I kind of liked the show that used to be at I-70 and Chambers. Wasn't a big show but seemed like it was mostly guns and ammo unlike some of the other shows around here. I got a smoking deal on some 9mm ammo there once. I think the guy had the 100 round packs of the Winchester white box priced like they were 50 round boxes. $9.99. I spent every bit of cash I had on me and bought all I could. Seems like they had some decent firearm prices too if I remember correctly.

I went on Saturday afternoon. Not a big crowd nor that many vendors compared to the old shows (the last one was 5 years ago). There were a few nice displays, but mostly your typical current production stuff from the majority of vendors. The women running the Mountain Man snack table mentioned it was pretty dead most of the day. Know two of the dealers that were set-up, both mentioned they hope next weeks Tanner will more than make up for this show.

I went over there both days. Saturday I found a 4” S&W 38/44 from the early fifties for $499 that was missing the original grips. I went home and did some research to see what it was worth and what grips would cost. I went back Sunday and offered $475 and when the seller checked the notes on how much was paid for it, I was informed that it was miss-marked and should have been at $750, bottom dollar. So after two days I came home empty handed. My take on the show was it sucked I wasted a week end.

I went Sunday more to escape than purchase. Easy parking, light crowd, found a few odds/ends that interested me, but only one firearm I wanted. Had to pass due to getting house painted this week. Wasn't disappointed with the show as it was different from the usual cookie cutter Tanner shows.
