Good to hear about Mourning doves. I only see about 10% here. Mostly Eurasian Collared/Ring neck.
Did finally get to slip out again yesterday afternoon with my wife's uncle.
His first time on a hunt. He moved here from NYC back in the 80's and has always been a city dweller.
He thought it was a whole lot of effort (afternoon walks rarely as productive as morning or evening) for the birds harvested, but admitted the time spent in the field was fun.
Since he seemed a little disappointed in the slow hunting action so we cooked up the birds last nite. He commented after dinner that we should go again, they were tasty enough to make another effort.
He had never seen his food go from field to table in his 88 yrs.
I think he is going to enjoy living in the country.
