Good lord!
I'm very glad things turned out the way they did, and I hope the blood thinners help.

Woohoo! Actually got some good sleep last night and felt much better this morning. Lungs must be feeling better since I really noticed the ankle when I woke up.I was able to convince the folks in the hospital that I was doing well enough to come home this afternoon. I get gassed pretty easy, especially going up stairs. The clot breakup relieved some pressure off the right side of my heart, but the pieces of the clot travel to smaller vessels and cause issues there that need time for the body to fully resolve. I've noticed progress in my physical stamina from this morning to tonight, so that's a great feeling.
As I've been thinking about how this happened, I'm actually happier that it happened when and where it did. The clot was there in my body, so it could have broken loose as I was walking into work tomorrow. Since I was planning to return to work before my approved FMLA block expired, now I've contacted everyone to continue on that earlier path. The folks at work have been amazingly supportive.
If you're planning on going through a multi-level spinal fusion, just realize that blood clots like this are not unusual. https://www.gaspine.com/2013/06/risk...spine-surgery/
Some other issues to repair and rehab, but on the positive side (in addition to looking at the grass from the green side), my back is doing extremely well.
Thanks for all of your support! This is an amazing group of folks that happen to be fans of modern sporting rifles.

I wish technology solved people issues. It seems to just reveal them.
