...and I'm finally back home after 6 days in SkyRidge. That wasn't fun at all. I'd recommend passing on the MRSA when the server comes around.

The barrage of antibiotics that they hit you with just clouds your head. Every chair and the bed was uncomfortable, so that was dreamy. I don't think I could have taken another night of it.

I now have a shiny new PICC line and the joys that come with it. Have an appt. with the infectious disease doc tomorrow to become a PICC line expert. It will be in my regular 'things to do' for 6-8 weeks.

But Praise the Lord, I'm not dead yet!

MRSA sounds bad, please stay on top of it.

Was I supposed to read that with a Monty Python accent? Glad you're sprung from the hospital. Keep healing!

Damn, I missed this! Glad you are back home. Infection is not a joke. They thought I might have to do another hip replacement with 4-6 weeks of bed rest. Thank god it was only superficial. Good thing you caught it and it was taken care of. Hope you feel better and have a speedy recovery!!

An update after more than a year following fusion surgery. The fusion failed. No bone has filled the disk spaces. The surgeon that did the job says he now wants to go at the spine through my abdomen to attempt another fusion and add large cages in the disk space. Wheee!

I've seen my surgeon's practice decline over the past year and I'm shopping for 2nd and 3rd opinions.

Left foot/lower leg is still mostly numb from the first surgery. Right big toe and outside of the right calf are still numb. Upside of that is that I lost my balance in PT, rolled my left foot and fractured my left ankle and it didn't hurt. Lyrica has been a big help turning down the nerve static in the areas affected. Still on oral antibiotics from the MRSA infection. It's certainly been an interesting year.
