Sad day; Henry Rifle RIP.

I Bought my father a Henry 3030 for his 75th birthday a couple of years back.

He takes it with him on hunting/camping trips and shoots a few rounds at a target for fun. Admires the rifle mostly.

Elk Hunting a couple of days ago, he was careless with a propane lantern and the whole camper went up in flames. (I'll post pictures when I get them)

Thankfully he's ok and the forest didn't catch fire. Camper and 99% of all hunting gear is lost. One gun and two bows lost in fire.

Anyways, here is what's left of the rifle after a hour in a fire. Think it will buff out?

I think it'll buff out. And now that it's been heat treated it will be even better.

I know the whole thing sucks. But...the rifle looks kinda cool. Be a nice wall-hanger. You could make up all sorts of stories with that.

well, he is a lifetime NRA member, not sure if that carries the insurance or not. I'll mention it to him.

We'll probably send it off to Henry and see what they think. From the location of where it was in the camper and fire, it might not have gotten too terribly hot, just burned the wood off.

Like everyone said, glad your dad made it out safe. Now he gets all new year for next years hunt.

That rifle has a story now, and its fire worn. :P
