I dropped my kid off at school this morning and headed over to the local grocery store Starbucks for the burnt, over-priced coffee that I love. I grabbed my 15 year old AR15.com zip up sweatshirt on the way out the door. It was a long line this morning, snaking out into the aisles of the store. A couple walked in after me, and as I moved aside to let them through, I said "End of the line is probably somewhere in baked goods."

The woman looked at my shirt and said "Well if you had brought your AR-15, you could have shot everyone else and demanded they make your coffee first."
Caught off-guard and unable to read the situation, I went with a deflection: "Yeah, but I hear they have bad coffee in prison."
The woman said "But I hear they have great showers."
I said "I suppose that depends on your perspective."

We had another interaction when I went to pick up my drinks that was equally as weird. During the whole conversation, the man she was with said absolutely nothing. The other patrons just sort of milled around silently. I have a lot of firearm branded clothing, but I don't normally dress like a GI Joe or a walking billboard for Guns & Ammo magazine, and this is the first time anybody has ever commented on my jacket. It was a strange way to start my day.
