It was recriminalized in the 90s (I was in another state, but heard they had made it illegal again)
It wasn't the same model back then... they weren't trying to tax it- just you could have it for personal use, and the state supreme court upheld that the right to privacy included smoking Cannibis in your house.
I just find it funny that the media thinks legalization is a new trend... when the only thing that's new is the dispensaries (so they can officially collect tax)
The kind of problems that have occurred here since it was passed I don't remember being a big problem- so maybe it's the dispensaries that are the problem... or the combination of easy public assistance that wasn't available in Alaska back then
