LOL. I've worked for a large company for years. The rank and file are always the last to know about change. The bigger the change, the later they'll find out about it.

Back on topic... I walked into bASS Pro, off i70, after they opened. Looked around and saw a lot of useless outdoor shiat. No deals here. The firearm museum was way kewl but out of my price range.

Went to the gun counter. At the time I was looking for a .308 Savage rifle. Talked up the old guy behind the counter. When I mentioned .308 his eyes got big and said that bASS Pro does not sell sniper oriented rifles. My response was, I'm not looking for a sniper rifle, just a "handy" rifle for deer. He further said that bASS Pro does not carry firearms in military cartridges. I asked if they had rifles in 30.06. The answer was yes. I asked if they carried rifles in 7.5 Swiss. The answer was yes. 7.62x51? Yes. The glass case was filled with Glocks. I pointed this out and got a dead pan look.

I left and never felt the need to go back.

Basically the opposite response at Cabela's.

    PSA/FYI:

I called basspro customer service last night to inquire as to whether they are/will be honoring cabelas gift cards. The response was: Not at this time, due to the early stage of the merger. It will be likely to happen early to midlle of next year.

    To Our Loyal Cabela's Customers,

We announced that Cabela's will merge with Bass Pro Shops and, upon closing of the transaction, will begin a multi-year partnership with Capital One whereby Capital One will exclusively service the Cabela's CLUB Visa card. Additional details regarding this announcement can be found here http://phx.corporate-ir.net/phoenix....&p=irol-irhome in our news release.

We're really excited about joining forces with Bass Pro Shops to create the truly premier retailer in outdoor sporting goods. We will be able to provide you with access to more locations and the greatest selection of outdoor recreation equipment and apparel in North America.

We have worked hard to ensure that this process is seamless to you. We currently expect to complete the transactions in the first half of 2017, subject to regulatory approvals and other customary closing conditions. Until closing, Cabela's and Bass Pro Shops will continue to operate as separate, independent companies, as they always have. Additionally, we will continue to honor and offer Cabela's Gift Cards. Please know that we remain committed to upholding the trusted relationship we have built with you and are focused on providing the exceptional service and experiences you have come to expect from us.

For our CLUB members, following the closing of the transaction, we expect to operate the Cabela's CLUB program without change or interruption. You will see no change to how you earn, save or use your CLUB points. You will retain your current CLUB point balance and continue to accrue CLUB points.

Thank you for your continued support of Cabela's.

    Sincerely,

    Tommy Millner

Should have asked if they had any 6.5mm carcanos. Tell him you bought a time machine and need to take a trip to Dallas.
