Added Esiason: "The other aspect of all of this with Colin Kaepernick is how much does he want? And how much more is he going to let somebody else talk for him?
Everyone just assumes that somebody should just sign him because he went to the Super Bowl a number of years ago and they should write him a $10 million check because he's some sort of activist.

Remember, he's the one that walked away from the San Francisco 49ers. He's the one that said, ‘Hey, I'll go walk away from my contract and the amount of money you're going to pay me.' At the end of the day, other teams decided to interview and didn't want him."

"This is just another thing in the media,
it's just another thing to promote what he's trying to do, it's another thing to put a black eye on the NFL," Esiason said. "In my eyes, that's what this is.

"He could be fighting for social justice and be the greatest human being in the world. At the end of the day, football teams want players who want to play football and who are good at it, and I don't believe he's either one."

I'm not and never have been much of a sports fan, although I do occasionally enjoy watching football.

But WRT Kapernick, seems to me he's shown every potential employer that he's going to be a colossal PITA for anyone he works for. Unless he is the Best QB In The History of the World (and it seems he's not) why would any team owner or manager want him?

I mean, I thought Peyton Manning was a pretty good QB, but in addition to that he was, by all accounts, a team player who took his job seriously but who understood that his job is to throw a football, period.

No matter how good Kapernick is or could be, if he causes problems that his managers have to deal with constantly, if he brings negative publicity to the organization and if he creates extra work for the back office, I think at some point they'd be stupid not to do a cost/benefit analysis and ask themselves "is this guy SO GOOD that he's worth all the trouble and all the extra work he's causing?" And clearly the answer is "no" because nobody wants to deal with him, and I can't blame them.

He's basically the Charlie Sheen of football.

With the League Minimum for Kaepernick at $775K, assuming 6 years in the league, it's very likely that every team he's been talking to has come to the conclusion that if they want a 4th tier QB, they can find someone cheaper that doesn't come with all the baggage.
