A local said there was a mason jar filled with "something" and it had nails, etc. sticking out of it. It was also connected to a cell phone with some wires.

This is unconfirmed, but it would make me need a change of shorts if I found it.

In case that's directed at me, I was merely poking fun at the quoted person's poor phrasing. I've been to that carousel and market several times; it would be awful if that became the scene of a domestic terrorist event.
