Follow up to Douglas County shooting

Earlier today18th Judicial District Attorney George Brauchler released the executive summary of the officer involved shooting of Randy Rodick. This is the case where Detective Dan Brite was critically injured. This report was written by ADA Larry Bailey, who also happens to give legal seminars for a few ccw instructors in the metro area. I've attended quite a few of his lectures and Larry is a captivating speaker with considerable real world experience.

An interesting observation during the collection of evidence is that one of the rounds from the pos' ak travelled across the field to hit a northeast facing window of Parker Adventist. It traveled through an office, through multiple (no number count) interior walls, through a computer and embedded in a wall of an examination room.

The suspect was hit in the shoulder and head by one round in each location. The suspect fired 25 rounds out of his ak. The rv had 58 bullet strikes on the exterior.

The officers fired 41 from one AR, 15 from another, an additional 15 from Dan Brite and 2 .45acp from a fourth.

The exact wording is that "at least three bullets from Rodick appear to have struck the Sierra Building on the Parker Adventist Hospital campus and nearby signage" then talks about the one round I mentioned and it's path.

The Med office building next to the hospital took a few rounds from the perp, the hospital did not. Thank God Brite was so close to the hospital & for the amazing professionals that took care of him. Guessing the fact that he's pretty big & badass helped him out, too.

Brite is to be commended for his selfless actions, as is the officer that put down that POS, and everyone else that puts themselves in harms way every day, no doubt whatsoever.

What's impressive to me is how the officer ran to cover, was able to communicate clearly to the ccw guy (it was his truck the pd used for cover), settled his breathing and took the shot in a very short period of time. Well done, I think many of us know or can imagine what the adrenaline dump was like for him.
