We had a Great Horned Owl around our house that could easily take a cat or small dog. It scared the crap out of my wife when she saw it perched on our deck one evening.

Oh wow, I thought those weren't as prevalent this far west. A GHO is for sure big enough to take out a cat or small dog.

We had some big horns set up in a central area where I worked at my last job. They had some babies and lived there for most of the fall and winter. There used to be tons of rabbits running around on the campus but they somehow all went into hiding for a while. Once the babies were grown a little they all just took off for good.

The office building where I work in DougCo has had Great Horned Owls nesting in the ironwork at the top of the building for years.

We had three GHOs hanging in our neighborhood for a long while. I don't know if they're still around. They liked to hang around in our peach tree.
