Over the 4th of July holiday this year, West Metro responded to nine fires caused by fireworks, including this one in the 3300 block of South Newcombe in Lakewood. Fireworks caught the fence on fire and the flames traveled to the homes on either side.West Metro crews responded to two more fires on Thursday that were sparked by fireworks. The one pictured- in the Bear Creek Greenbelt near Estes Street and West Cornell Avenue. Another fire - in the 2500 block of South Sheridan. Again - our district is under high fire danger right now.
I'm all for freedom, but the people shooting these fireworks off in crowded subdivisions are idiots, and I hope they get ticketed.
