Default Cheapest place for car batteries?

So there's a zillion kinds of auto batteries, at least that many places to get them, and it's been about that many years since I've had to buy one. Now I have two that are acting goofy.

Any recommendations on getting the best prices for them? I've always just gone to Sears, but now I'm leaning towards Costco or WalMart. Don't need anything high-performance, just for a '07 Kia Sorento and a '00 Chevy Silverado.

Any place cheaper/better? I'm assuming Batteries Plus would be the LAST place to go, based on looking there before and the way I was treated.....

    Thanks!

Of all the brands, I think there are only six or so manufacturers that produce for most of the brands. I think your idea of Walmart or Costco is right on. I'd check Amazon as well, just for fun, but Walmart will probably be cheaper.

The Wal-Mart EverStart MAXX is always highly rated by Consumer Reports. I don't know if it's cheap or not, but that's what I buy and they seem to work just fine. If you're used to Sears, i'd bet anywhere is going to look cheap.

There are only a few manufacturers of batteries. The EverStart MAXX is my 'go to' replacement. Not much more money than the standard battery and they've worked great for me.

Costco Interstate batteries have a 42 month full replacement warranty, vs 36 month for the walmart everstart maxx (prorated out to 72 months I believe). Both batteries are made by Johnson Controls.

I don't know about your personal experience at batteries plus but I bought my 2 batteries for my diesel there and 3 days before the warantee expired they replaced the pair because one was defective.

Checker batteries are higher end Deka re-branded. I've had great luck with those.

Napa, had some crappy luck lately with them, but they have covered them on pro-rated warranty.

Walmart ones I use for the vehicles I don't rely on daily.

I've had good and bad luck with the no-name battery places too. Not sure how many are in town, you'll just have to shop around.

    YMMV.
