Default So Who Has Been Asked?

So last night I get a text from my daughter's mom asking if I have the mags for the 10/22 I gave her a few years back. It's been in the safe sense the last time we shot and the mags ended up with my ammo. She wants to get out and practice, and is wanting to get a hand gun "just in case." Also, a girlfriend of mine ask me this morning about getting her CHP. Feels she needs it now for some reason. For some reason it seems woman in my life are feeling a new need to have a gun handy. I think we might see an increase in female gun ownership after these elections. Thoughts, experiences?

My neighbors asked me for some help in selecting a rifle and handgun for home protection several months ago. Haven't had time and they may not be as worried about it now that the election is over.

Despite what you fellas may think of me, for many folks I'm the "go to" guy on gun advice. Little do they know I just get all my good info from here.

I can honestly say that there are only a few folks in my life who know how knowledgeable I am in the way of things that go boom...and they probably know more than I do.

I had 3-4 people come to me asking about AR's and the such last week. I gladly guided them.

Today? Nothing yet. I do find it funny that liberals may be seeing the reason why the 2a is so important though.

I get asked all the time. The person wanting to get into firearms almost never seems to go through with it.

Maybe you're not helping them enough?
I have had the exact opposite experience. If someone I know is curious or expresses interest, I do my utmost to take them shooting (often at my own expense)....In every case that i've been able to do so, they've been hooked after one trip to the range and buy their own gun shortly thereafter. One of them bought an AR the next weekend.... several have bought handguns... and one got the bug good and has who knows what now.

I enjoy taking new shooters out. I even enjoy taking people out who haven't shot in years. I normally enjoy relaxing and shooting with people who just enjoy shooting.

I absolutely avoid shooting with people who apparently know everything and can't wait to show you how unsafe they can handle a firearm.

For me, it is a hobby in support of a purpose. Not everyone believes they need to defend themselves, and for those people I agree, they probably don't need to own a gun. Many people are just curious and these are the people I will go out of my way to introduce them to the hobby. A few people begin to realize that they may want to take a greater role in providing for their personal and family's defense. I spend time talking to these people but often will refer them to some of the more competent instructors I know who will give them not just firearms training but introduce them to the responsibilities and liabilities involved in owning and using firearms against other human beings.

I know that for the past few years there has been an increase in participation by women and I think that is a good thing in general. I'm not so much interested in the person's sex as I am in their maturity and their willingness to learn.

Like most things in life, the hobby is on a scale; with those who don't on one end and those with a defensive mindset on the other. Lots of room in between.

    Be safe.

Ken at Damage Factory stated he started receiving emails this morning after Trump was pronounced president-elect from liberals asking about gun purchases.

I find this odd. I suddenly feel much safer today. Not sure why there would be a sudden panic from non-owners to suddenly want to own.
