    CIP, DIP

    From what I know, beer and wine up to XX gallons is fine but spirits of any kind are a federal no no. They know what's best for you, you see.

    IIRC, over half of the cost of a bottle of distilled spirits is due to taxation.

    Workable and possible - just not likely, so far.

    Many other countries have home exceptions for non-commercial private production, like USA does for brewing and wine-making, and mead.

    Maybe the #Donald will crush the elitist barrier to entry for stills?

    Yeah, and do it on the way way WAY down low.

    A buddy of mine in Arkansas decided he wanted to get into distilling. Nothing crazy. Just as a hobby and for his own consumption.

    He ordered a bunch of distilling equipment from various big name companies on the web.

    And he got a warning letter a few months later from the ATF.

    You can legally distill to make your own ethanol for fuel (like for your vehicle) if you get a permit to do so (free, apparently). If some accidentally spills into your mouth.....whoops!
