    Default Online photo storage?

I'm wondering about online photo storage. Specifically, what does anybody know about places like Photobucket or similar places where you can load images to place on forums such as this one. I don't need anything extravagant, just a place to do what I described above. Do forum members have any experience with this? Are there places to avoid? "Good ones?" "Bad ones?" I've checked out a couple and they seemed a little intrusive for what I wanted. I don't see the need for "them" to need to know where I am or where the picture was taken. Any advise, either where to look or on work arounds will be appreciated.

I just use Google because I have a Gmail account. You get 15 gigs of storage for free. I'm at 14 gigs now and I've had a gmail account since it was beta.

Do you have OneDrive access? Or, Google Drive as Irving said. NSA will also store as many of your photos as you want.

I use Dropbox, it works well for moving large files between the office and home and it also allows me to keep photos in the cloud. My guess is pretty much any online photo or file storage is going to work fine. I know people that swear by imgur, but they also use reddit.

Yeah, but they won't let you link directly to them with BB code.

I just use imgur. Super easy to use and you can control access to your photos.

Google photos. I moved (copy) of all my digital up there and I can see/search it on my phone. Photo recognition is scary good. I pay for 100gb storage for like $1.99 month or something like that.

Great to just take a photo and later that night it's automatically uploaded to google and safe. I don't really give a hoot who is looking at it. Nothing to see really. Just old family photos.

Now the NEW google app is killer (Photo Scan app) - you can scan your old paper photos with your phone and instantly get them uploaded to google drive/photos. I've not tried to do a bunch of them yet, but they claim like 100 scanned items in 10 minutes. My test one or two, it worked really slick.

    Not Amazon.

I was using Amazon drive to store all my RAW/DNG and catalogs (360 Gigs) as off-site backup. One day they decided that they were now taking all my photos, moving them to a new service they just launched called "Amazon Photo" - which they are saying is a new image sharing site (think Flikr) and were going to make all my photos public. Yeah me! Fuck that. I'll publish what I want thankyouverymuch.

Fighting with them about it now, and how they now say they have an interest in my photos, and don't have to delete them - because I *gave* them an implied right to use since I put my photos into their new service (which I didnt).
What is my joy if all hands, even the unclean, can reach into it? What is my wisdom, if even the fools can dictate to me? What is my freedom, if all creatures, even the botched and impotent, are my masters? What is my life, if I am but to bow, to agree and to obey?

Photobucket used to be good for sharing photos on message boards and such. But lately it's gotten so buggy that it's almost impossible for me to use.

I have Amazon Prime Photos and this is news to me. I (thought I) carefully reviewed the TOS to ensure they didn't lay any legal claims to the content I uploaded but I could have missed it. Do you have any links to their policy W/R/T the "implied right" BS? (I'm not doubting you at all, I just want to find out more about this)

BTW for online backup I use Crashplan. I like it because it's simple, reliable, unlimited, and I get to create/keep/change the encryption key. I got it mainly to protect my Lightroom catalog.

    Agreed. Very sad.
