    Default Hunting Tag Question: (help)

I know I am not in the right section but someone may see this to help me. I have a tag for the 4th rifle season. I drew and was shipped to me in June. Well I have been out of town and opened the envelope tonight and the tags addressed to someone else. Basically they sent me someone else tag and not mine. Yes I should have opened envelope before.

Ran to Walmart for a reprint and they show my tag is active but they cannot print it because the terminal says they cant issue an active tag during its season. Says go to a DOW office for a reprint. Well DOW is closed for the weekend. Anybody got some work abounds?

I don't know if any workaround for you. Maybe call the office tomorrow and see if you can ahold of someone and get authorization to hunt. I would print out your screen on the DOW website that shows what tags you have drawn successfully. Or take a screenshot with your phone. You could risk it then and head out and possibly have to explain the situation, but if you kill something you have to tag it right away and you really don't have a tag in possession. Tough spot for sure
All I have in this world is my balls and my word and I don't break em for no one.

Thanks Sniper7. Its too bad the license dealers cant print out a new one. The dealer shows my tag active and also online on my purchase page. The problem I commit a crime if I don't have that tag and actively hunt. The DOW offices show they are closed tomorrow (so says the Internet).

Personally I think the courts would throw it out. You won't be prosecuted for acting in bad faith or fraud. Same as if the state issued me the wrong tag number for a license plate.(And it has happened.) Do you still have the envelope? Prima facie evidence the state made a clerical error. You might be able to get a CPW officer the validate your license. Call Operation Game Thief 1-877-COLO-OGT or 1-877-265-6648 and explain to them what happened. You might have to meet an CPW officer in the field. Best advice I got, sorry.

Keep all the docs and envelopes and print out your screen shots. If you know your local Dow officer I would call them too. You might see if you can get a phone number for the other person. Maybe he has your tags.
A toughening of your mental hyde is your best defense.
