Default odd ballistic question for the experts.

Say a 14-17gr 22 cal projectile is being flung through the air at around 950 fps at a target that is approx 25yds away.
Is this projectile going to dispatch a small coyote if it gets the projectile right in the grape? For science of course. I would never shoot at a coyote that may or may not have put a nice hole in my beagles neck last night.

I'm no expert, but a guy with same name as me (since we are speaking hypothetically) has had pretty good success on similar sized critters with a 9 grain .177 caliber projectile traveling just a bit faster, and obviously very well placed shots.
I.... I mean "he" remembers one shot at about 25 yards right between the eyes that split the skull open.
That guy now uses Colibri .22 long rifle rounds as they are about as quiet.

The Grape is his melon. Or in laymens terms skull / head.

I wonder what demand there is (hypotheticaly) for bolt action suppressed gun owners , when a vermin becomes a threat to people or small livestock in more "urban areas". How much would one be willing to donate for fuel and ammo, inquiring minds want to know. AND operators are standing by.

Not that I or anyone on this forum INCLUDING MODERATORS condone or encourage such ponderings.

Dime sized groups ought to be able knock out individual teeth.

Based on the projectile weight, my guess is this is going to be a compressed air driven device and not a burning powder one ... although I don't think that changes things a whole lot from a legal standpoint.

That said this question has been addressed on the Field & Stream site.

Legal is not an issue as this is for science and not killing animals in a residential area. Strictly penetration and fpe testing. Lighter projectile is needed for pass through safety. At the target and what is beyond.

I used to shoot center fire pistols in my basement rental while living in Trinidad CO. Strictly academic study.
Did the same thing in a garage in Omaha NE.
Always kept the round count to less then three in a hour. Never had any problem.
Couldn't stuff enough powder in the case to blow a 32 ACP Savage pistol up with a 190 grain rifle bullet.
If a 200 grain 44SPL fragments in a box of stacked newspaper from a Charter Bulldog, re check your load.
If your worried about pass through you need a temporary backstop.
