Did you take my #2 as an indicator that *I* believe the idea that info on a gun forum is somehow archived and is more of a threat for future potential raids, rather than the umpteen other open source methods of knowing who has guns (and what they have)?
No i was quoting you to point out the absurdity of I DON'T WANT TO BE ON A LIST, comment from another member. Started this thread to avoid that thread going sideways, since i was going to put my OP here, there.

People have no clue how many list "they are on" From prescriptions, grocery purchases, amazon or other on line browsing. it's fuken endless.
The other one is when one calls for Customer Service.. When you hear them say So Great-Kazoo, i see you're calling from 123-456-7890 is this a good number to call you back If we get disconnected

When the NSA wants information, they go ask Google.

I'm sure the .gov has tons of information about me, including any security clearances I've had. What I can rely on, is that they're able to use the data with government efficiency. This means they couldn't find their collective ass with both hands, a map, and a flashlight.

There are public and private profiles on every last one of us. The analytics done on those profiles is very thorough. Almost everything about you is calculated by mathematical models. Everything from how many firearms you own to how often you brush your teeth is kept track of. There is almost no way around it. Being on a forum is something that's part of the data collection for sure. Not being on a forum doesn't really move the needle though.

I don't want to be on a list either. I want my government to think I'm the perfect sheep ready for shearing. I also want criminals to think I'm unarmed as to increase how attractive myself and my family would be to them.

But seriously, I think the lists would not be drawn from gun board postings rather records that already exist (as the Kazoo points out).

And as a reminder of how things could have been...

...how about adding something immediately useful: a gun owner registry available to the public online — something like those for sex offenders.
Author is a convicted felon by the way. Lots of gems in that "piece" as well!

So we could have known who our best friends are, our good neighbors, the businesses we should be supporting, and the companies for which we should be working. Neat huh?

Pretty sure all 500,000 people in Wyoming are on "the list." What are you going to do, SWAT an entire state?

Not with big data analytics and other factors to build a model of say... 10k people to hit first, etc. Don't think old school like the Stasi. A list is just a list amongst lists. Have a database? Have the computing power to reference that DB? Have criteria to I/O DB? There's your kill list, there's your "Mr. So and So, please come talk with us" list, there's your Dystopian Horror Show list...

click... click... click... *whirring* = list.

State-wide voter registration costs $50. There's your kill list. Did you vote for the wrong person in 2016? Well, you might not belong (Cuomo) and may be irredeemable requiring a solution (GODWIN'S LAW!!!).

Posting on a gun board isn't going to raise your risk profile one bit. Voting Republican, going to church (tithes on tax returns), homeschooling, refusing to bend your knee to diktats are the things that will win you prizes.

^^ This. Big Data will be around a $200B market by 2020, and it's a matter of what you search for to give you the desired "list". Then it will gain it's own intelligence and become a Precog.

If I had a nickel for every list I'm on ... I could buy another gun
