Default Lets get Cory Gardner to co-sponsor HPA

Lets all start calling Gardner's office and ask that he co-sponsor S.2236, the Hearing Protection Act version in the Senate.

    Cory Gardner's DC Office number: (202) 224-5941

And if you're feeling particularly bold, you could try to get Michael Bennett on board too, his DC number: (202) 224-5852

Lamborn and Buck are already a co-sponsor of the house bill, so it wouldn't hurt for some of you other guys to make sure YOUR congress-critters are on board too.

maybe he'll do that right after he apologizes for asking Trump to leave the Presidential race.

I called. The staffer I spoke with was polite and seemed receptive.

Basic talking points I hit were that the nfa was passed into law decades before it was understood that gun shots caused hearing damage, and that it was ridiculous to regulate a piece of safety gear like a machine gun.

I also pointed out that the HPA would eliminate the 8 month wait for ATF approval, but would still require a buyer to pass a NICS background check.

91 views and 2 replies? Y'all are ready to die in the revolution but you're afraid to call an ostensibly friendly Senator?

If you have called, post in this thread (especially if you have an interesting conversation with the office workers ... mine was short and they seemed to know what I was talking about, but Justin had already called them so lets hope its not just the two of us).

No cell at work and I'm pretty sure calling from a .gov number is somehow against our UA. I could send him a nice email, though?

Emails are ok, but calls are significantly more effective.

Called. Friendly girl on the line said she was aware of the legislation, as was the Senator.

Was talking to my kids about being involved in the process the other day. The 12 year old, who I am worried might end up being a lawyer, challenged me that I communicate weekly with my elected officials. Whipped out the phone, opened the email and showed him the email from Senator Gardner. Yes, likely written by a staffer, but they log calls on topics the same as they log emails if you are a constituent. I do both.

I called Sen. Gardners office this morning and urged co-sponsor support. Spoke to staffer Jonathan who had heard of it and took down my request and specifics about me. Also called Bennet's office. The lady I spoke with didn't introduce herself (i.e. "Senator Bennet's office") or ask of any identifying information about me, including name. Just said "thanks for calling". Got the impression at best any note about me would be promptly in the circular file.
