Over the weekend 36 people died in a massive fire at a "rave" in Oakland.

And yet, aside from a couple of stories, this seems to have fallen off the news cycle.
If 36 people had died in a mass shooting, they would have cancelled regular TV programs and we'd still be hearing the stories of the victims. It would have been at the top of every news web page.
On my Yahoo feed, I scrolled down - not one story on the Oakland fire. Doesn't even show up as "trending." I actually had to enter "oakland fire" into the search window in order to find the link above.
Interesting contrast, don't you think?
