Talk about inciting fear. After 9/11 it took months to re-assure everyone down here that we aren't a major target.

OK, this is smack dab in the middle of everything I've done for the last 11 years. I was a fed for the AF, AFOSI. I had routine access to this info and contributed a considerable share myself.

Military installations are very hard targets, and in the eyes of terrorists, considered too difficult and non-sympathetic as military personnel and bases are combatants. They are still targets, but not very high on their list. Run a truck full of explosives into Ft Carson (good luck with that) and blow it up and people will get mad but not shocked. Same truck, run it into a mall or a school, you see shock and fear. There are some other targets here in CO that they would not only get shock and fear, but the numbing effect they got with the 9/11 attacks and none of them are military centric.

There are much more lucrative targets in the USA than what we have in Colorado, never-the-less, we have our problems here in CO. Paying attention and looking out for suspicious acts is the best thing everyone can do.

In addition to what SA Friday said, I'd also add that terrorists tend not to think tactically or strategically, they tend to think in terms of emotional impact and propaganda value.

Blow up the gates at a military installation in Colorado Springs and the response from those on the coasts will be "meh ... just a bunch of red state rednecks ... no big deal" but blow up an office building in The Center of the Known Universe (aka NYC) and you get the world's attention.


And for those jihadi's that think a soft target NEAR the military targets here are all that soft, I have two words for them; Jeanne Assam!

I think we should become more extreme than the extremists. turn the entire desert into a glass exportation company after multiple nukes are released and turn all the fucking sand into glass.
