    Default Interesting mortality map

Colorado looks good on this map but not entirely sure why.

Lots of outdoor activities here. Skiing, hiking, biking, those nutters that climb the incline.

Colorado is the "fittest" state in the nation... Statistically, we're the most active, so our cardiovascular systems are the healthiest.

Additionally, people with advanced heart disease and similar problems (respiratory, etc) might be more likely to move away from here due to the thinner air. I know my mother in law couldn't come visit from texas because she had heart and lung problems.

One of the guys I work with is moving back to Texas (after living out here for more than 20 years) because his wife is having some heart issues.

The area in red is littered with obese people. Former roommate was from Missouri and he said he looked around once at his friends and realized he was the fittest guy there and he was like 240 pounds of lard at the time.

Not surprising. Some of the largest people I have ever seen live in the mid-south. Several of those areas have the highest concentrations of fast food joints as well. Active lifestyle and people who work ranches account for a lot of CO outside the metro areas.

I bet the number of hours on a couch, or playing video games equates to a similar distribution.

It's obvious. The Mississippi river kills people.

Florida looks pretty healthy too. You'd think with all the old people down there there would be a bit more red.
