Watching "Fortitude" on Amazon Prime. Pretty good series, filmed in Iceland, mix of serial killer, bio-hazard, corporate evil, corruption, small-town insanity in the land of the midnight sun....

    HBO Westworld.....3 or 4 shows in...….yeah it's crap.

I can't do it. Sucks though, I loved the original movie.

Ahh, the original must be what's holding you up. I never saw the original so no preconceived notions or standards. It was written by Michael Cricheton if that helps.

Okay...this is where I fail to understand the true purpose of any "remake" in the first place. Coincidentally, I would add remaking songs to this as well. If the purpose of remaking a movie is to update the film directors options to current technology for interpreting the writers original intent of the given film, okay. Just stick to the damn writers intent and pay due homage to the original film while you decide you're going to mess with it. IMO, the list of films that have been raped and pillaged during remakes is long and disrespectful to the originals.

If you're going to make a "series" from an original film many decades later, then all bets are off and it might blow ass so hard that nobody who liked the original movie will like the series. Others however might. Good luck not messing up something that didn't suck before you raped the idea and ventured into "Classic movie that is now a bad 2018 version of Dallas" with robots.

So, it's cool to talk about shows and share ideas, and that's where I'm at on this particular series.

I'm interested in seeing the original because I heard it was bad. I think we are in agreement that you can't take a movie and turn it into several seasons without seriously fleshing out the plot.

I think Westworld is the best show HBO has ever done. It’s definitely a favorite of mine. To my knowledge, Abrams has nothing to do with the story, that’s all Jonathan Nolan (Dark Knight Trilogy) and Lisa Joy (Burn Notice) - and the late Michael Crichton, obviously.

The Wire, is The Best Show HBO has ever done. The Sopranos is a close second, right up till the series finale.

Neither one did much for me. That’s not a knock against them, I just like science fiction a lot more than cops and mafiosi. For crime dramas, I definitely preferred Boardwalk Empire to The Sopranos or The Wire. Big Love was more entertaining as well, in my opinion.

I’m just glad you didn’t say Game of Thrones was the best.
