Soooo, I had the talk with Austin tonight and it went well.
Here, literally, were my talking points:
1. Boys are boys and girls are girls. This is obvious. Look down when you piss. Understand?
2. There is no such thing as "a girl trapped in a boys body". It's fiction, or fake, not real. The book you're reading is fiction, or fake - it's not real.
3. Wearing girls clothes and makeup when you are really a boy is just pretending to be a girl. He's a "fake" girl, regardless of how much he wants to be a real girl. Kind of like Halloween, but all the time. He's not a real girl just because he says so - he's pretending.
4. Pretending to be a girl when you are really a boy is NOT normal. In fact it is a sickness called "gender dysphoria" or "gender identity disorder". It's a sickness that should be treated by doctors.
5. BUTTreat all humans that you interact with with respect, unless they disrespect you first - don't take crap from people. This includes blind people, crippled people, black people, Irish people, gay people, deaf people, and yes, transgender people - anyone.
6. Do not make fun of, point at, beat up or bully anyone, period (unless they're beating on you - then whoop their friggin ass).
7. I want to hear all about what your teacher talks about regarding this story.
8. If you are asked a question about this stuff, answer honestly. And if your teacher has a problem with your answer tell me and have her call me or I'll call her.
9. Teachers are people just like you, me, your mom and the President. All people are wrong sometimes. If your teacher says that being transgender is "normal", she is wrong. Period.
10. Teachers are wrong about a lot of stuff - I had to learn this myself when I was young. Ask me about ANYTHING you hear in school and I'll give you my best answer.
The conversation went great and my boy was like, "Yeah, I know all of this" and there were lot's of giggles and stuff. Most was review anyway. Then he went outside and played Star Wars, battling villains, beating up the trees with his light saber. I think I'm good, but it's nerve wracking thinking that you have to compete with the State and reverse-educate with some stuff (trans-bs, global warming, guns, etc.). Many (most?) parents have no clue. They're kids are just drones getting programmed.

Sounds like you handled it expertly to me. I'm glad you posted your talking points, because I don't think I'd have explained it as well as you did I don't think there is anything in there that I disagree with. As parents, we are often relegated to fretting over things which our kids could care less about. That's pretty much our job. I think you handled this well. [golfclap].

Sounds good to go. Glad you got it handled in the interim.

Well done, Gilpin. Bookmarking for when my son is older.

Good talking points. I wish the schools would concentrate on why Johnny can't read, rite, or do 'rithmetic. The social indoctrination is just so ... Maoist ... in nature ...

Good job daddy. I am sure you are making a huge positive impact on your son.

We had 6 boys stays overnight last night for Austins's 12th birthday
. We spent a few hours at Dave & Busters, had ice cream at Cold Stone then came home. The boys stayed up most of the night playing video games, laughing, arguing and fighting. Like normal boys.
One thing I picked up on was the boys kinda picking on Austin for having a girlfriend.
After all the boys left today I asked him, "So.....I heard something about girlfriend." He looks away, all embarrassed. I just say "Awesome man, good for you. You guys hang out at school and stuff?"
His face lightens up and he says, "Yeah we do. Her name is Margaret."
Happy dad.
Edit:
Since we had 6 boys and my daughter, we took 2 vehicles to Dave & Busters. On the way to Cold Stone I had 4 of the boys in my truck - the rest were in my wife's car, including Austin and my daughter.
The boy in my front seat blurts out, "Austin really likes you."
Me: Oh yeah? I like him too, he's a good kid.
Boy: Yeah, he says that you're really nice and his other dad isn't. (I'm Austin's step-dad, btw)
Me: Oh, ok. Wow, that's nice to hear, Austin is awesome!
Boy: Austin says that his other dad gives him stuff to try to buy his love...but it doesn't work that way.
Me: No, it doesn't (I'm freaking blown away right now).
Boy: How long until we get to Cold Stone?
