    Try the Persona Lab Blues.

They work really well in my Merkur 34HD.

Find a sample pack and try out a few different brands.

ebay has a bunch of samples packs too. I'd also check out Dorco http://www.dorcousa.com/pace-double-...5-pack-std301/ They also have great deals on multi blade razors. Get on their email list and they will send you offers that are awesome. Dorco is the company that make the Dollar shave club razors. If someone is considering safety razor shaving, spend a bit more and buy an adjustable model. Mekur is my favorite for modern, Gillette if you have time to find a vintage one.

Last blades I bought were Astra Superior Platinum, made in Turkey. Blades are a personal preference and buying samples to try different brands is an excellent suggestion. Safety razors are proof that "new" is not always "improved." A single blade is every bit as good at shaving than three, four, or five blade cartridges, and for far less money.

My daily blade is a Personna Red. But as with many things, YMMV. WestCoastShaving.com has a good selection and I think some samples.

Some think Feathers are the bee's knees. I didn't. Sharks aren't bad. There are a lot out there if ya look.

Is your DE adjustable? That will play into the closeness/aggressiveness of the shave.

    If you are interested:
I have a long handle, open comb, Merkur 34 I'm looking to sell.

I think I spend about $13 every 18 months to shave. Then again, I don't like shaving and avoid it a much as I can.

I pretty much never fully shave. I shave my neck but that's it. I did shave fully last Monday but before that it had been 2 years
