Mike Rowe is a pretty amazing dude.

I have always hated the term' tongue in cheek' because it more or less translates into 'counter-points to stupid shit someone else said in the first place'. In other words: Satire can't exist without a prevailing foundation of stupid... And Rowe is a master of these methods.

He leaves his ideology at the door for every thought that he eventually translates into words.

After that solid gold response, I hope Marla feels like the dimwit she is.

Good for Mike for making her get her own room.

That's the great thing about how he responded; there's an infinitesimal chance that she (and other antigun drones) might actually read that, and rather than being enraged by a caustic response, might actually be motivated to learn more. rather than go on the attack, he chose to try to educate by giving an example that the whiner could possibly relate to. Well done, Mr. Rowe.

And,yeah, she should get her own damn room...

I'd let her stay in my room, then she would see the light.

We have family that is very into firearms. It was very interesting to see in-laws from New Jersey that thought people shouldn't have firearms, having never been personally exposed to them. After a day at the range, their confidence in handling a firearm was impressive. The empowerment of experience is the other side of the coin to the mindset of emotion and ignorance.

I've made a LOT of converts by taking my wifes friends, usually theatre/arts people, to the range and teaching them how to shoot.

Start small, get them proficient, move them up, making sure they get comfortable with each step up before moving on, and then hear stories about how they are buying guns, building AR's, and joining ranges from my wife. I've helped quite a few piece buy parts and assemble AR's now.

    It's fun.

All that aside, I really like Mike Rowe and his stance on things. He is a class act in an age with very few of them left.

It is sort of interesting how many people fear firearms without having any direct experience with them. I personally am more leery of chainsaws and gas powered weed eaters, but maybe that is because I have spend more time handling guns than chainsaws.

Mike Rowe does a podcast, The Way I Heard It. It is sort of like listening to Paul Harvey and the information is always informative and entertaining. His charity supporting the trades is one of the best examples of education reform today, IMO. Besides, Rowe is an Eagle Scout
