Glock G19 Gen4 Slide Finish

Was wondering if anyone has noticed that the factory finish on the G19 Gen4 slides seems to wear completely different than any other varients - e.g. slide finish appearing to wear almost down to the bare metal after just a handful of years riding in a holster....

Side-by-side comparison with other Glocks which have seen much more use is striking, particularly the huge level of finish wear on the G19 compared to almost no discernable wear patterns on the others....

Any thoughts as to if this should be a concern or what others have have experienced? I don't really care about it from an aesthetic point of view, more about exposure of the bare metal to sweat/elements/etc....

Yes there is a difference, a simple Google for "Glock slide finish" will give you all the information you need.

Depending on the generation / age there's still the tennifer or FNC (nitrocarburizing) base on the slide. So you're still GTG.

This one is a relatively late model Gen4, pretty sure it doesn't have any enhanced base coating, you can almost see the base metal of the slide at the wear-points....

I'll take some side-by-side pics with some earlier-production Gen4's when I have a chance, the difference is pretty noticeable. Mainly just concerned about possible reduction in corrosion resistance...

Glock stopped using the tennifer finish in mid 2013.

I thought the tenifer finish was still being used on the stuff made overseas but the process is too environmentally unfriendly to be used stateside so the ones being made here use a different finish?
