Privacy advocates rejoice! Chaffetz recognizes the utility of the technology (especially in cases like Amber Alerts) unlike some of the more vociferous opponents but wants reasonable restrictions. HTH DOJ got authority to spend $100M on this stuff is a question that should be pursued -- who on the Hill advocated it in the spending packages? Who was even aware?
