    Default Cleaning Question (Re-barreling)

Had a question on an issue that hasn't come up for me before, and was hoping for some advice....

How thorough does the cleaning have to be on an upper receiver when re-barreling - e.g. should it be solvent-cleaned to the same level as prior to initial mounting (removing all grease from the front, threads, etc.)? or is a good wipe down, feeling for particles, and a fresh coat of moly-grease sufficient?

My gut tells me it's the former, but would hate to spend all that extra time if it's unnecessary.

    Thanks!

Either way will work. Really just depends how anal you are about stuff.

Solvent clean, fresh grease. A particle of crap can induce a false torque reading or scar the aluminum threads.

Do it right or dont do it at all.
