Fire ban = shooting ban for all of Boulder County west of Broadway, no exceptions; that was declared on Wednesday. Regardless, where the fire was (Settlers Park area) it is highly unlikely anyone was shooting at anytime of year.

I was monitoring the scanner much of the day because we are close enough to pay attention but north and west enough to not be under evacuation. The sheriff responded to two reports of high volume of gunfire "possibly fully automatic", one around Gold Hill and another off the Peak to Peak around Bunce School Road. Dispatcher made a point of saying the "education period" is over, which means a $500 fine if caught instead of a warning. I'd like to see 10X higher fines during fire bans.

They hit this one hard and fast, which is the way it should be near any city. Despite the great response, this was only 60+ acres mostly because the weather cooperated and the winds never really kicked up. Odds are good it was caused by a participant in the Homeless Industrial Complex.
