    Default 80s movies

Last night watched "Top Gun" on Blu-ray (still the best aerial footage ever and so much more spectacular in HD!) then a commercial today playing "Don't You Forget About Me" got me to load "The Breakfast Club" ...

Damn, they just don't make movies like this anymore ... and I'd hate to think how it would be written if done today ...

    Three words.

    Long duck dong.

The 80's were definitely a high point for quality storylines. But the special effects in today's movies are pretty spectacular.

There were some great movies from the 80s...

    Die Hard
Full Metal Jacket (I think that was 80s)
    Aliens

The original "Gone In 60 Seconds" would've made the list...it was 70s movies.

    Oh, hell....

The Blues Brothers. Maybe that was 70s, too.

And I still love "Top Gun".

I gotta say, "The Final Countdown" had some great aerial footage, too. The scene where the Tomcats are dogfighting with the Zeros was fantastic. Except for the explosions...you could easily see the little wing tabs that fit into the fuselage of the models they used.

I especially like the shot of the F-14 coming out of the clouds behind the Zero.

    Fast Times, Blade Runner

Plenty of good movies from 80's.
