Or spend a little more for a not-cheap auto and not have to replace them every time they break. Not saying a knife made out of better steal would have survived but it would have. ;-)

Thanks for recommendation. Didn't even knew some of those existed.

One of the guy I know who is into spyderco gave me the same advice.

Conclusion: decide to go cheap again and went with ravencrest for otf and start using my kershaw launch 5.

On my desk, I also have a cheap $13-14 kershaw zing (blackfriday+10 coupon for 2) as a box cutting backup.

You certainly can replace a cheap knife many times for the cost of a good knife so I can't fault you for that. Some of it is prestige too if I'm being honest. Used to be I'd invest in a nice Tag to wear but now that Smartwatches are much more functional I have a hard time spending that kind of money on something that "feels" nice, ya know? That role has kind of been taken over by knives for me. I justify it by how well they work, how long they last and the warranty associated with them but you can buy and throw away a lot of crappy knives so it's not all about quality differences.

How about an bali-song auto multi-tool knife?

I have a pretty nice knife and the warrantee is void if I try to pry or screw anything with it.

I got one of those BeastBlade cheapies from the gunshow. Seems like an ok knife, nothing special, but better than I expected for 60 bucks...

After seeing the BladeHQ video on Boker AK auto knife, I thought my tippless knife can be salvageable. So, I did some grinding and sharpening to reshape the tip (with the simple stone). It came out okay. It still needs more work done to be on a level to cut the boxes smoothly, but it does open box very easily. I will post where it is at now, and final sharping.

I pay a little more per item from a shop 5 min from me. I prefer cash n carry, so that extra cost isn't a factor.
