Downloading Netflix
This is more for those of us stuck in the stone age that are on satellite internet and have no reliable high speed internet for streaming.
I see that you can now download some programming from Netflix. I've tried this and it seems to work pretty well. Download stuff at work over wifi and bring it home. Cool.
I found that my Android phone/tablet and Roku TV won't cast for some reason (still looking into it), so I do screen mirroring and it works fine. It seems that programs saved to internal storage works best. I downloaded a bunch of stuff to my SD card on my tablet and it's pretty clunky on playback.
Anyway, I'm pretty happy that I can use Netflix more now and not have to wait until midnight to get "unlimited download" from my satellite provider.
Anyone else doing this and have some tips/tricks?

Amazon prime if you have it lets you download. I just download movies on their firetablet and watch those on trips.
As for the SD card being clunky, how fast is the SD card? You may need a faster one.

BIG PaPa
I download stuff sometimes to watch when I know service will be spotty or non existent. Especially if I want to watch during a flight.
For now Netflix and Amazon stream pretty well for me at the house.

I ripped some DVDs and put them on USB stick and then plugged that into the Roku. Playback is perfect. I think I'm just using the Roku Media app to playback. Cheap SD cards have very slow read/write speeds. You can invest in a high speed one from their professional lines used in cameras. You don't need a very big one for use on the Roku. The USB flash drives will be generally faster and cheaper.

Using a flash drive is a good idea.
