    Default Denver "Assault Weapons" Ban

I just moved to Denver a few months ago, and I'm curious about this "Assault Weapon" Ban. I've read the legal code, and understand the code, but want to know how it's inforced(if it even is)

Does anyone have any knowledge on this subject?

    Thanks!

Its rarely enforced. On the rare occasions we've seen it charged, its for a gang banger picked up on other charges. But Denver PD can use it if they get a stiffy for you.

It is an enforceable law. As to its actual application. I think it has been used to pile on top of other charges as they see fit to do so.

When you say you "moved to Denver" are you living in the actual city/county of Denver? Because many people that move to Arvada or Thornton or Broomfield or Larkspur or what-not will say "I moved to Denver". If you don't actually live in the city/county of Denver, the law doesn't apply to you.

I work in Denver, so I have to be careful too. I doubt that stopping at work for most of the day would be considered passing through on the way to the range.

IIRC this already went to court after a previous administration, with an anti-gun agenda, had the P.D. stopping people going to n from gun shows. Same applies for possession of a firearm inside the vehicle. State Law over rules Denver except for those who are residents of that fine community.

Reason #837 to never enter the City & County of Denver.

Here in Boulder, the City Council and County Commissioners get all teary-eyed whenever they contemplate such a ban and realize it will never be...and that warms my heart. Gotta love me some preemption law. We even have an NFA dealer just off the Pearl Street mall. Oh the horror!
