Default Exploding target starts another wildfire

The 40,000 acre fire currently raging in Arizona was started by an off-duty Border Patrol agent who was recreationally shooting at exploding targets. He tried to put it out, called it in, and turned himself in. Sure would like to see these things permanently banned in Colorado.

If we build the wall, the fire will stop there.

I guess I look at it from a different view. I don't like seeing anything banned. That tends to lead to additional bans...and we have plenty of enemies who want it all banned.

You will never legislate a perfectly safe environment. Accidents can and will always happen. The thing to do is teach people how to *try* to be safe and what to do if there is a problem. Sounds like this guy tried to be responsible. He tried to put it out and when that wasn't effective he called it in.

I saw a news report the other night that there was a car accident...do we ban driving just because of an accident?

me either, bans end up growing.
however, I think their are too many knuckleheads that believe that shooting them absolutely cant start a fire. we have some like that here.

Banning cars might be a good idea though. I mean..."Think of how we would end up lowering our carbon footprint." Who doesnt want that??

I shoot exploding targets all the time, never had an issue. We buy the stuff 50lbs at a time.

You cant legislate the stupid away.
Do you also want to ban ARs because one was used to kill folks in a movie theater?

    From the link:
The Green Valley News is reporting that several sources they spoke with said a target shooter using exploding targets started what became the Sawmill Fire 8 miles east of Green Valley, Arizona. The shooter reportedly tried to put out the fire, but after he failed he called to report it. The officials in charge of suppressing the fire have not confirmed what caused it.
    Sounds legit
