    To hijack this thread.

Been toying with trying to carry my Para Ord 5" 1911. I open carried other guns years ago but for a long time now it's only been duty gun in thumb button retention holster or shield in a IWB.

Despite it's size, I think I could IWB due to my size. But kinda looking for something that could possibly due double duty as a tucked in shirt open carry or baggy summer tshirt concealed. During winter an OWB I might get away with some coats, but generally, I'm assuming IWB is only smart option.

FWIW I also carry at the 2-3 oclock roughly. I couldnt tolerate reaching all the way back behind me to get stuff, especially requiring a draw up out of the holster.

You'd be fine. I've carried a Government sized 1911 of one flavor or another for years, in all seasons. A good belt and a holster designed for the weapon, and it will conceal just fine. Throw on the uniform of middle age (khakis, collared shirt) and you will be invisible in most situations. Even shorts you can wear a belt with, and a light weight button down. Even if you have the figure of a 40-year old who can eat half a large pizza by himself. Just buy a good carry belt and the right holster, and don't worry about it.
Math is tough. Let's go shopping!

The Long's Shadow Antero is convertible between IWB and OWB.

G-Code makes an OWB G-19 Inforce APL Holster. Any of the Safarilands' designed to hold a weapon light SHOULD hold an APL. Curious though, why the APL?

Got my hands on an Inforce APL, Streamlight TRL2, and a Surefire X300... for me, I just liked the form/function/fit/light spread of the APL the best out of those three. Different strokes for different folks. Plus it was cheaper than the other two as well, but that "cheaper" did not seem to me as a "cheap build/knockoff". Only time will tell I guess. YMMV

Here's a company closer to you that seems to offer what you need, you'd have to ask about the barrel. (just looked at pics on site, barrel should be ok) Unfortunately front page shows 4 weeks lead though. I picked up one of their holsters at a retail store locally, very happy with it but can't speak about customer service.

Red Leg Tactical makes nice custom holsters. I have several from there and I'm a very picky individual. They are next door to Springs Armory. http://www.shop.redlegtactical.com/

Anyone have any sources? I've google-fu'ed and contacted Crossbreed, Bravo, Gravity, and a few others but they don't seem to carry what I need. Or if they do it's like a 6 week wait and an exorbinant amount. A lot of places are now switching to a "quick ship" option where they only have what they have in stock and do not do custom work, etc... Anyone have any sources/thoughts/etc?

    Thank you.

I'm waiting on mine now. Josh was highly recommended by several people, I don't know if he does custom orders

Well, we can stray out into the woods as to what "custom" means, but Long's Shadow will make an OWB holster for a glock 19 with a threaded barrel and an Inforce APL light--which is why I put the link in the thread. The light, barrel, etc., are all options.

Their website says up to six weeks turnaround. I got my latest order within 30 days.

Boy I really wish Ray at Lobo Gun Leather didn't retire and sell the business. By all accounts the guys in Iowa or Ohio that bought it do fine work, but it was nice to be able to just drive down to Pueblo, drop off a gun and let him work his magic on the leather (and priced so well too).
