    Can't even see that size target at over a mile without magnification. However, if using a spotting scope to scope out the target area, then taking the actual shot on irons only, but with the target picture first scoped thoroughly on high magnification, maybe.

    Wouldn't you have to super-elevate the muzzle like a howitzer in order to do that?

    I know some old military rifle had those ladder sights that were graduated out to 1500 or more yards. But I thought the idea wasn't so much to hit an individual target but to rain bullets down on the enemy's head, especially during WW1 trench combat?

    Watching that guy shoot at the buffalo, given that many tries with all those spotters, I feel that I could do that with my M1.

    I was witness to a 700+ yard first shot hit on a mud hen by a guy with a scoped Rem 700 in .25-06. I was watching with binoculars and the shooter was surprised as all get out that he made the shot.

    After talking to him about it again we measured the distance using google maps. It was about 2000 feet not yards. Mystery solved.
