2017 Draw results...

Elk is showing for my group this morning with the 5XX for anyone who applied. Good luck!

Checked last night and elk was showing 4xx still.

Hoping there's a lag in posting some. Unit we hunted last year had allocated 30 tags with only 9 applications, and we were 3 of them. We took a point 1st choice. Mine is still at 480

5xx for elk. Didn't draw deer. Still waiting on pronghorn. Hope they are doing it alphabetically.

I'm confused now. Got 5xx for elk when I had zero points and first choice takes 2 points and second choice always goes to first choice and usually requires 1 point.

Deer is showing 4xx and I didn't expect to draw first choice but my second choice should have been a piece of cake to draw and went to 3 choice last year.

And I haven't got a moose refund back even though my wife's showed up....so I'm crossing my fingers!

I know a lot of people research on those areas like Sniper and JSLO mentioned. They will find an area for their points or no points and put in for there first selection and then the numbers to draw that area sky rocket. The group I hunt with used to be able to pull female pronghorn with 1 point 4-5 years ago. Then a ton of people started putting in for it since it was only 1 point and then they had success so they still go there. Now it takes us 2-3 points to draw the same tag. I tried to jump in on a new RFW area 2 years ago to get my wife into a good place. There were hardly any applicants the first year, then everyone saw it the second year and it went from a couple points to 10+ in one year to draw and she only had 8.

I'm just confused because these are places that I have hunted for 10 years without much of a change (except when they made muzzloading limited licenses instead of OTC) but it has still remained the same since that change.

Last year, I lost the draw for an area (private land only) that had a history of leftover licenses.
This year, I drew both deer and elk with no points for the same area.
Truly a lottery.

I know nothing is 100% but the area we hunted last year was our 2nd choice. Only 9 applied (we were 3 of them) out of 30 available. We gambled and we lost. Bummed but won't keep us out of the woods.
