    Default Centurylink outages

So, it appears Centurylink has been having some serious outages recently. Today seems especially horrible in our area. I was without internet for most of the morning and then it came back on for about an hour but not it's out again.

Funny how dependent we become on something like internet service. Kind of sucks being without it.

Anyhow, if any of you are having issues getting in touch with anyone here on the forums it could be their internet is down.

Just imagine what will happen if we get in a full-scale war. Taking out our Internet will be one of the first strikes. Can you imagine how lost people will be that have had Internet access at their fingertips their entire lives?

My wife works from home, guess that didn't really happen much today. She said it was down all morning and came back for a bit, hadn't heard about it going back down. Sucks. But guess that means we'll have to actually *GASP* talk to each other tonight instead of messing around on our smartphones....

For the record, we don't actually do that, we were having this discussion the other night about a family out to dinner where the parents' heads were buried in their phones not paying any attention to their two kids. Kinda sad the society we live in today...

In my day, we called the internet "encyclopedia". And it was EMP hardened.

We all like to joke about an internet outage, but I'd pretty much be out of a job without it. I mean, of course it could be done, but that's not the way my company is set up.

    Centurylink sucks.

The internet being down is kind of a hassle, but I like my wife and if that fails, I have lots of books.

I'm in IT as well. If it came down to WWIII or a zombie apocalypse, I'm not sure it would matter.

I read about some insider said Qwest/CenturyLink had some really antiquated servers. I dumped them a couple years ago for a wireless link. They even conned me into renting a business class router from CenturyLink. It still dropped me from service several times a day anyways. Eff Centrystink...

An ex of mine had Century Link up in Evergreen. She had 8M service which I think was the tops at the time a couple years ago.. Every time I would go there I would run a speed test and would get about 2.5 or 3M so I would call in to see what was going on and they would check some things on their end and suddenly we would be getting the 8M we were supposed to be getting.. A few days later it would be back down to 2.5 or 3 again and the the phone call would be made again..

OK, but let's be fair: In your day, the only "history book" said in its entirety: "Og find cave. Cave good. "
